Back in the campervan I decided to try my luck again at placing myself between the passenger and drivers seats. This time I was going to stand firm. But Dad was having none of this. So a squirt of rescue remedy down my throat, I was once again banished behind the table divider. Gypsey just lay there and snored…woof…..think I have the hangdog look, but even that didn’t help much.
Our next stop was Green Fountain Holiday Resort in Port Alfred…woof, close to a beach again as well as a lagoon…this could be fun.
Gypsey and I looking out of the window of the campervan as we drove up the sandy road towards our new home for the next week, we couldn’t help but notice some strange animals in the fields. We recognised our friends the cows, like the ones in Hogsback, although these cows had strange colours on them. We knew immediately that Dad would take the opportunity to photograph them, but there were also odd striped looking horses we had never seen before. Could they be something to chase? Checking in at Green Fountain, we also saw ducks for the first time. They make stupid quacking noises and were marching out one by one from the Reception area…woof, woof, could they be our new neighbours, growl!.
After setting up the campervan, Gypsey and I were happy to see that Dad had organised the wind break and our crate into sort of a garden for the two of us, this meant we didn’t have to be confined to our playpen during the day. And we had a tree for shade.
Oh boy, what on earth are those creatures with long necks and big wings….I heard Dad say they were ostriches…..mean looking things, with slanted eyes, don’t think me and Gyps want to mess with them, poo, they also stink.
Mom was stressing again about our food…we were slowly running out of our BARF. It was important that she source a butcher soon, otherwise we would grow thin and growly, if not fed correctly, so next morning we went in search of a butcher. The first one we came across was most unhelpful. She quite clearly had never heard of a dog being fed the BARF diet. But in the local ragmag, Mom found a really nice family run butcher just outside Port Alfred. The Smuts family were super, duper and made a big fuss of us. They ground all sorts of lovely bits and pieces into our food, with bone and fat. It tastes absolutely YUM…..growl, woof, don’t worry BJ, Dogmatters will always be our favourite.
So Green Fountain was turning out to be one of our favourites. We also spent an afternoon with our Sister Family McMaster from Cape Town at Kenton. And guess what….we met our daughter Lika there too, my, oh, my how she has grown…into a beautiful Stonehurst bullmastiff, Gyps and I are so proud. We had a lovely time exploring the Kenton Lagoon, luckily this time there were no pesky pets to disturb our adventures in Kenton.
Now the last evening in Green Fountain, we heard Dad and Mom talking about the Addo Elephant Park and how they would love to visit, but, now here comes the but….dogs are not allowed. Oh boy, woof growl, where are we going to, if we not going with our family to the Addo.
We heard Mom phoning around to find us a ‘doggie hotel’. Hrrrmp, growl, a doggie hotel sounded quite nice..might not be so bad after all, guess we get to play with some other doggie companions.
It was another lazy Saturday afternoon in Cintsa. Tina was indulging in a siesta so I decided to take the dogs for a leisurely beach walk. One of the most appealing things about Cintsa is the pristine sandy beach that follows the curve of the bay for miles. Tina and I had noticed an astonishing […]
