From Port Elizabeth, about 74kms to the main entrance of ADDO. We arrived round lunchtime and were told to choose a C site (caravan site), anyone not being used. So John and I after leaving the campervan and the zook at reception, took a stroll around the C-sites. All the C-sites were shady, had a portable braai, tap and were also gravelled, rather than grassed. A central ablution block just an arms length from the sites, was clean and had showers as well as a bath with shower. No laundromat, but laundry facilities. I didn’t see any of the cleaning staff and did at one stage have to ask Reception to send cleaning staff to the ladies ablutions as they were swimming in water, mud and grass. This is what happens when a large mob of youngsters arrives. A swimming pool, is about a 10 minute walk from the campsites, nestled in between the self catering rondavels. There is the usual Parks Board Shop on site that sells just about everything you will need for a short stay. There is also a restaurant catering for most palates. From the picnic area, one can sit in shade and watch the ellies down at the very close waterhole and a little way further down from the picnic site at main camp is an ‘underground hide’. When John and I visited for sun downers, there were no animals to be seen, or heard. On the whole a really clean and neat campsite, much like SANparks everywhere.
