Cintsa – Rondesvoux Campsite

Oh my gosh what heaven on earth this is.  So much so, we have booked to stay a whole month.  Cintza West is situated at the start of the Wild Coast. Rendezvous Caravan Park, owned by Trevor Taylor, but ably run by 92 year old Ralph….yes you heard correctly 92 years of age, this caravan park is by far the best I’ve stayed in on our trip.  We were given a choice of sites as being low season, the park was empty, apart from a family waiting for their house to be vacated by tenants in May and Ralph who is a permanent resident and lives in a park home on the property with his little JR – Whiskey.  Most of the sites are amongst trees and bushes, each site has its own ablution, consisting of shower, wash-hand basin and toilet.  I chose to rather clean my own bathroom as the staff are not very permanent and seem to arrive on days they feel like working, probably due to the fact that it is now low season.   Very spacious property with a walkway down to the beach.  There is a pool and playdeck for the kids, as well as trampoline, swings and a slide.  Next to our campsite is a property which houses horses being rehabilitated, so each morning or evening on our walk to the beach I take along a couple of carrotts.  The horses have now gotton used to us arriving and always nudge our hands to see what they might get. There is also a laundromat with one washing machine and one tumble drier.  We opted for the full month so Trevor charged us his monthly rate of R2000.  The beaches are beautiful, clean, pristine and so much natural debris like driftwood, sea urchins, shells, beautiful pink seaweed and the every faithful crabs that run along the beach.  At low tide, it  is possible to walk along the beach and even ride your bicycle.   There is a tidal lagoon which is safe enough to swim in.

  1. Sounds like heaven! Never been to C West, but C East was stunning, had a good (but expensive I seem to remember)meal on top of the dunes – you go up by cog rail or some such thing. How are the dogs getting on with the JR (I suppose he’s called Dallas!) Have fun, and catch a fish for me?!

    • Hello Janet from a beautiful, warm evening in Cintsa West…I know exactly the restaurant you are talking about, we have been there with the dogs nogal…LOL. Its called Michaelas and there is a fanicular which takes you up to the restaurant. Our dogs nearly had heart attacks when they saw it approaching, but after a bit of coaxing, we managed to get them in. THey were allowed into the restaurant on merit of ‘good behaviour’. We had a buffet for R100 per person, not shabby given what we were offered…definitely a bit cheaper I think to when you were lat there. We walked with the dogs from Cintsa West to Cintsa East along the beach and over the lagoon. From where we are camped, it takes about 20 minutes on the beach. By car about 40 mins. Such a beautiful setting and the weather has been fab. Hope you are well and enjoying your new neighbours. Lots of love. xxx

Cintsa Beach Walk

It was another lazy Saturday afternoon in Cintsa. Tina was indulging in a siesta so I decided to take the dogs for a leisurely beach walk. One of the most appealing things about Cintsa is the pristine sandy beach that follows the curve of the bay for miles. Tina and I had noticed an astonishing […]
