So we thought you would all like to hear our story too. So this is our blog. Because both of us cannot tell the story, we had a vote and I (Quince) will be telling our story.
Hello, my name is Quince, I’m 4 years old and a bullmastiff. I am a beautiful red colour with a touch of black and fawn. My name is Gypsey Rose. I’m 5 years old and also a bullmastiff, however I’m a beautiful fawn/black colour. We live with our human family John and Tina Botton in the very beautiful estate called Stonehurst Mountain Estate, in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town, South Africa.
Sometime ago, we remember our human family speaking of a looooong trip they want to make through South Africa but weren’t sure when this was happening or in what they were going to make the trip. Well, lo and behold in May 2012, the long awaited trip was being planned. So many weekends we were bundled into the Zook and off we went to look at our different options of transport. We saw caravans, off road vans, small vans, big vans and campervans. Our human Mom didn’t like any of them because she felt they were too small for two huge bullies and two large humans, hehehehehehe, after much tooing and frooing, we landed up at Vista Motorhomes in Somerset West. We liked the Vista family straight away. We went and had a good sniff round and decided this was the place to be. So began the discussions of how our campervan was supposed to look and what it was to include.
We could feel the excitement building as each time we went to visit the Vista Family a little bit more was completed. We were allowed to have a sniff around our new home, once it was finalised. We were, hmmmmmm, well we weren’t so sure…it was a little cramped inside…we were wondering where our beds were going to be and where we were supposed to sleep…..our human parents had a wonderfully big bedroom but us L.
We followed Mom and Dad into the van and out the van as they prepared it for our big adventure. In went clothes, bedding, food, toiletries, our dog food, towels, our leads, our duvet, but….hey….what about our big beds, we’re not leaving without them…or are we?? Phew! Okay, now we see the plan…our big beds were going in to the Zook (by the way Zook is short for Suzuki Jeep which we are towing behind our campervan).
Oh by the way we forgot to mention lots of strangers coming through our home in Stonehurst. We wondered what Dad, Mom and our new friend Siobhan were planning. One thing was for sure, we weren’t very happy about all these strangers coming through, what was up!!!!! Oh of course, we were renting out our home, so that’s why Siobhan was bringing all these strangers…potential tenants!!! We hoped a really nice family would arrive.
We overheard Siobhan say she had got us a Christmas present that she was going to give Dad and Mom for us, we wonder what that will be?
So our campervan is packed and fuelled. The Zook is in position, we climb inside this huge van and Dad decides it’s time to take some pictures for our website. Its Mom’s job to drive the Zook as close as she can to the back of the van, then Dad hitches the a-frame onto the towbar. With that all done and dusted, it’s time for us to be on our way. Goodbye Stonehurst, see you in a year or so.
It was another lazy Saturday afternoon in Cintsa. Tina was indulging in a siesta so I decided to take the dogs for a leisurely beach walk. One of the most appealing things about Cintsa is the pristine sandy beach that follows the curve of the bay for miles. Tina and I had noticed an astonishing […]
