Sundays are special days in Sydney as travel on the busses, trains, ferries, just about any mode of public transport is very inexpensive.  One ticket can be used for the whole of Sunday on any transport.  So, Sunday morning we got up early, packed our snacks and headed off into the city.  The bus transport is just magic.  The bus stop is just outside Nick and T’s house, so not far to go with prams and kids.  Our plan was to head off into the city and return using the ferry to Manly, then take a bus back to Cromer.   We had a really super bus ride into the city, then walked around the harbour where the ferries dock from Manly.   We visited the Sydney Opera House as well as various markets.  The ride back on the ferry was awesome, haven’t done that in many years.

The following week we walked from Manly to the Spit Bridge which took us about 3 hours then met Tanaelle and the twins at Clontarf Beach where she had met a friend with quads for a play-date.   John barbequed us some sausages on the gas braai at the play area which we enjoyed with some barbie sauce and bread wrapped around them.  YUM.  We also took several trips through the park to Dee Why and had coffee with Nick.

Have babysat a couple of times for Nick and Tanaelle which gave them some much needed ‘together’ time and have now moved into our new premises in Colleroy. We are housesitting for a friend of Tanaelle’s from Church, looking after a house and two Maltese poodles…quite different to our bullies, I must say.

In Sydney there are dog unleashed areas where you can go with your dog, walk or throw ball, all off lead.   There is a play area close by where we live and adjoining that, is the dog walk area, so when we go down with the maltese’s, the twins go with us.  They just love throwing ball for Tia and Bailey which they soon tire from and then its time for fun on the swings and slides.  The weather has been stunning, so we have been able to walk down most days.

Moving forward, John is off to Brisbane towards the end of October and while he is away, I welcome my bestie friend from school Robyn and her partner Mike, who are flying from Brisbane to Sydney to spend a week with me.  We have 40 years of catch up to keep us busy.   This weekend heralds a fireworks display in Sydney centre, so John and I will be catching the bus from Pittwater Road, about 5 mins walk from the house AT NIGHT and returning round MIDNIGHT…..quite safe here.  The last time I caught a bus at night was when Jossie and I were in Frankfurt visiting my cousin Danie.

So that is about it for now…..I will post soon and give you more exciting adventures with the Wandering Nomands.

ACTIVITIES

Cintsa Beach Walk

It was another lazy Saturday afternoon in Cintsa. Tina was indulging in a siesta so I decided to take the dogs for a leisurely beach walk. One of the most appealing things about Cintsa is the pristine sandy beach that follows the curve of the bay for miles. Tina and I had noticed an astonishing […]
