The spectacular rocks at Cintsa West

The spectacular rocks at Cintsa West

Cor, its the start of another week, we have been in Cintsa West for 3 weeks, it has gone so quickly.  Like most Mondays, it is wash and springclean day, but first an early start for us with a walk on the beach.  We have now reached 7kms at low tide.  This morning the dogs were given a chance to see how fit they were.  Up on the dunes, above us were a group of vervet monkeys, enjoying the morning, chattering away and eating as they went.   Quincey saw them first and gave chase, with madam a bit further behind.  The vervets spotted them, dashed up into the trees above, giving their warning clack clack as they went…..too slow was Quince and Gypsey, hey but they made it up the dunes okay, just goes to show, even big dogs can speedily race into action, up dunes nogal J.  That was enough to finish them off, so it was a slow procession home again.   Then we had to climb a flight of stairs.  Gypsey barely made it LOL, couldn’t wait to get home and climb on her bed.      I left John and the dogs resting while I strolled to the laundromat to start the washing before giving the family breakfast.  Of course en route, I bumped into Ralph and Whiskey busily going about their business.  Ralph told me that during the night a springhare had been killed outside his door…he thought it might have been the dogs, but after careful inspection, John thought it could have been a lynx or a civit.  Surprisingly enough, in the dunes above us, are bushbuck as well.  Ralph was telling us that every so often Trevor and his mates go into the dunes to see if they can find lost sheep that go astray.  They come back with many different types of snares that are set by the locals, it is really surprising that these buck actually survive.

Monday evening was warm enough for a really super braai.  I had been to collect dogfood in Amatola and got some nice german sausage at Carls German butchery.  Wonderful end to a Monday.

Cintsa Beach Walk

It was another lazy Saturday afternoon in Cintsa. Tina was indulging in a siesta so I decided to take the dogs for a leisurely beach walk. One of the most appealing things about Cintsa is the pristine sandy beach that follows the curve of the bay for miles. Tina and I had noticed an astonishing […]
