Campervan – OH YES DEFINITELY

Well, in my last post…closer and closer, I left you with some ‘food for thought’ LOL.   Since then, John, of Vista Motorhomes and his designer Bill, called us on Thursday to come and inspect the ‘floor layout’ of our campervan ‘still to be built’……..  Friday morning, as early as we could possibly make it, John and I drove the long stretch to Somerset West, excited, nervous and with some expectation, seeing we had, at the last visit, given a minefield of information to John  of  Vista Motorhomes, to work with.

We were not disappointed, there on the floor of their workshop, all layed out in masking tape, was our ‘still to be built’ campervan.  (Giggle), John even took a photo of me standing in the ‘still to be built’ kitchen, so when you see it, you will just have to IMA-GINE for now, OK!

With a few modifications by MOI as to the setup of the extractor fan and cupboards in the bedroom, all was good at maskin tape stage.   John of Vista Motorhomes was left with the task of sourcing pricing on (1) extractor fan for kitchen (2) built in dishwasher – yes you heard correctly LOL (3) a good comfortable mattrass  (4) a sliding door that would separate the bedroom/bathroom area from the main living area upfront (5) LCD screens and (6) an awning.

Bearing in mind also, our two bullmastiffs will be travelling in the campervan with us, so will need a space for their cushions while we are mobile.  Bill delighted us in suggesting that the bench (which forms part of the living/dining area) could be modified to lift up against the wall while travelling, thus creating a space behind the passenger seat for the dogs beds.  Once we are stationary, then the bench can once again be lowered into its former position.  I really liked his idea as I was already stressing as to where they could safely sit, while we travel.  Problem solved!!!!! YAY .

Please keep remembering that we will be on the road for a year, or more, so for me (female) especially, some home comforts are very necessary.  I was absolutely adamant about the bed being ‘freestanding’, which enables both of us, at any stage during the night to climb out of bed without climbing over each other.

I found that the campervans we had seen were nice and practical (male), however, they lacked  insight on the  home comfort and finishes (female), this was very evident in the layout of the bedrooms, cupboards and kitchen areas.  This was especially important to me as going campervaning for a month or even two, versus a year or more, is quite different,  so a couple of additional comforts is quite necessary.

We will be updating our campervan status often, so check back soon……..

ACTIVITIES

Cintsa Beach Walk

It was another lazy Saturday afternoon in Cintsa. Tina was indulging in a siesta so I decided to take the dogs for a leisurely beach walk. One of the most appealing things about Cintsa is the pristine sandy beach that follows the curve of the bay for miles. Tina and I had noticed an astonishing […]
