Friday morning sparrows, we drove to Fiat George….we were met by Yvonne, Fiat’s workshop manageress. Their technician was on leave, so their apprentice Ruwan assisted, with the help of Helderberg technicians, via telephone. Nobody was really sure what the problem was even after everything was reset by computer. Gavin suggested John and I head up to PE, as the workshop there is bigger, has more stock and the technicians are more qualified. John and I hummed and haaed, as we didn’t want to make the trip unnecessarily, due to petrol costs.
The van was consuming a vast amount of petrol, possibly because of us towing a vehicle or possibly also that it was new and had to settle down. John also had to learn how to drive the vehicle and get the best out of her. So on the road again, we stopped a little way out of George to have a bite to eat and contemplate the best way forward. John wasn’t unduly concerned, so we decided to rather follow our original plan and head to Willowmore…reason being was that Willie the workshop manager in PE could only see our van on Monday, which meant we would have had to spend 3 nights in PE at a very inflated rate because of it being high season. The van seemed to be holding up and the red light no longer appeared. When going up hills we switched the aircon off and kept the vehicle below 3000 revs, so far so good. We arrived in Willowmore Friday round 2.30pm, just in time to have a look around the town, take the dogs for a walk and stock up on what we needed for the evening. Temperatures were in the early 40 degrees Celsius, hugely hot…Quince didn’t seem to be managing in the heat very well, outside, or in the campervan. He spent most of the time we were travelling trying to squeeze in between the passenger seat and drivers seat, almost on top of our laps. Gypsey, on the other hand, was quite chilled and spent the whole time sleeping under the aircon unit. Technicians
It was another lazy Saturday afternoon in Cintsa. Tina was indulging in a siesta so I decided to take the dogs for a leisurely beach walk. One of the most appealing things about Cintsa is the pristine sandy beach that follows the curve of the bay for miles. Tina and I had noticed an astonishing […]
