I just had to share our recent experience…OMG…it was just soooooo funny
Hogsback, although small, has lots of interesting roads that lead to ……….well we were soon to find out. We had consulted with our GPS first, it told us down this dirt road, led to a forest, we wanted to take the dogs for a walk, off lead. So off we went…….after about 1km or so, the road suddenly ended AND at the end of the road was not a forest, but a home called ‘middle earth’. Felt like we were in a bygone era….the abode was surrounded by old rusty objects, including a broken washing machine, what looked like a tumble drier and a fridge. Clearly no male prescence here for a very long time…an old caravan was seen under a tree and on the cattle gate, was an ensemble of clothes, drying in the weak rays of sun pushing their way through the masses of trees surrounding ‘middle earth’. A cachonphony of barking greeted us as we pulled to a standstill and out of the door, somewhere behind an abundance of creeping rose bushes and rusted wire fencing appeared a….could it be….actually be…… a hobbit. She smiled through rotted teeth and asked John if we were lost. She reminded me a little of the wicked witch in little red riding hood. She cackled when John told her we were on our way to the forest, as per our GPS, she said many people came down her middle earth road looking for the forest, but had to be turned back.
She bade us farewell and hobbled back inside her middle earth home. My eyes grew as big as saucers when I saw her feet…..female hobbits feet in true style…. minus the hair. They weren’t very large, but were very grubby, sprouting blacked ingrown toenails, hardy worn feet that had travelled far in her youth, perhaps.
Our very first encounter…..Middle Earth in Hobbitland.
It was another lazy Saturday afternoon in Cintsa. Tina was indulging in a siesta so I decided to take the dogs for a leisurely beach walk. One of the most appealing things about Cintsa is the pristine sandy beach that follows the curve of the bay for miles. Tina and I had noticed an astonishing […]
