Run by Jannie who told us that he and his wife also spent a year travelling like we are, but when they reached Outeniqua Caravan Park, what was to be a 2-day stopover, landed up being a ‘forever’ stopover for them…..they ended up buying the caravan park and settling in Klein Brak Rivier. According to Jannie, they have never looked back.
Situated a little off the N2 highway in the small, quaint town of Klein Brak Rivier, lies the Outeniqua Caravan Park. Arriving at the main gate, there is an intercom system to announce your arrival. Whereupon Jannie meets and greets his guests, showing you to your caravan/campervan site. Our site, had a portable braai, electrical point and was grassed, this was magic for the dogs, as we didn’t need to put any groundsheet or beds out for them. It was very hot, so after a long journey in the van, they were more than happy to spread out and chill.
Jannie invited John and I to his ‘onsite pub’. Fabulous place to meet other folk, have a sundowner, followed by a game of pool with the kids. There is an enclosed swimming pool area, comprising of a ‘toddler pool’ and ‘adult size pool’. Being December, the park was full but enough room between campervans/tents and caravans to make each site cozy and private. The ablutions were clean and manned by staff. Plenty of toilets, showers each with their own private cubicle. I didn’t see any baths. Nicely stocked laundry and washup facilities, if you don’t have your own.
Alli n all, a very pleasant experience. Being December the rates were inflated, so we paid R350 per night for a site, unfortunately I didn’t find out what his out of season rates were. This park comes ‘highly recommended’.
It was another lazy Saturday afternoon in Cintsa. Tina was indulging in a siesta so I decided to take the dogs for a leisurely beach walk. One of the most appealing things about Cintsa is the pristine sandy beach that follows the curve of the bay for miles. Tina and I had noticed an astonishing […]
